Our Story
How we Started
Victory Courts & Concrete was built around a simple idea: families should want to spend time together at home.
We started the business back in 2017 with a goal that had nothing to do with concrete. We wanted to help families build outdoor spaces where they actually wanted to spend time together — away from screens, together in the yard. Patios, fire pits, outdoor living areas. Places that pulled people off their phones and into the backyard.
Then COVID changed everything. People needed to be together, but they needed a reason to stay home to do it. At the same time, pickleball was exploding — and so was the idea of building private courts. Families in our area had the land. They had the desire. They just needed someone who could make it happen.
That was a natural fit for us. We already had a background in concrete and decorative coatings. Our own families had been involved in tennis, basketball, and pickleball for years. And we understood what homeowners actually wanted: a space where their kids and their kids' friends would want to hang out — right there at home, where you can keep an eye on what's going on.
What Makes Us Different
What we quickly learned was that most court builders don't think past the court. They pour the pad and move on. We think about the whole yard. How does the lighting affect your neighbors? Where does the water go? What does the finished space actually look like when you're standing in your backyard? The details matter, and we sweat them so you don't have to.
Our Mission & Values
Victory Courts & Concrete is also a mission-driven business. We're committed to supporting foster kids who are aging out of the system — through housing partnerships and technical job training programs that give young people real skills and real futures. When we're successful in this business, that work moves forward. That matters to us more than anything.
Our Approach
We built Victory as a turnkey operation. Courts, fencing, nets, basketball goals, lighting, hardscape — one company, one conversation, one finished result. We've found that when homeowners don't have to coordinate a dozen different contractors, something great usually happens: the project actually gets done the way they imagined it.
We also believe in being straight with people. If your yard isn't right for the project you have in mind, we'll tell you — and we'll usually have a better idea. We've talked homeowners out of expensive retaining walls and into wood decks that served them better for less money. We're not here to sell you something that doesn't make sense. We're here to help you get the outcome you actually want.
Owner and Founder
Our owner and founder, Ken Nelson, spent years in the field learning the trade from the ground up. He aimed to build something different: a crew that shows up on time, communicates clearly, and takes as much pride in the finish coat as the foundation pour.
Eight years and hundreds of projects later, that's still what drives us. Whether it's a backyard basketball court for a family or a full athletic complex for a commercial developer, every slab we pour gets the same attention to detail.
Ken’s work ethic and honesty set the tone for everything we do. He leads with heart, integrity, and an unstoppable drive that keeps our team moving forward.
